Preaching the Cross,

Reaching the Lost

NURSING HOME MINISTRY

Several of our members go to nursing homes in the surrounding area to sing hymns, specials, and just be a blessing every third Saturday of the month. Our philosophy is that just because they are “shut-in” doesn’t mean they have to be shut out. While this serves as a way to fellowship and encourage members of our church, it also provides an outreach to forgotten and unsaved people. We like to make all the residents feel that they are just as much a part of Cedar Grove as those of us that are able to attend every service.

OUR MINISTRIES

ANGEL GOWNS MINISTRY

Every other Wednesday, many of our ladies get together to be a part of a unique and special ministry. Hundreds of ladies from around the country have donated their wedding dresses to this ministry. We take each dress and handcraft dozens of burial gowns for stillborn babies and other infants that have passed away. Each "angel gown" is hand delivered  to hospitals throughout the state of Mississippi. Through this ministry, God has allowed us to be a blessing to thousands of families during a time of deep grief and to show them the love of Christ in the midst of the sorrow.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We host a themed Vacation Bible School every July. This is a week where your children play games, make crafts, and spend time with friends; most importantly, however, they hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and learn the Bible. We love for your child to have a great time but our main focus is preaching and teaching the Bible. Our members really get into the decorations for this event you will not want to miss VBS.

AWANA
Our AWANA program begins at 6:30 P.M.  and ends at 8 P.M. We train children from 2 years old (Puggles) through seniors in high school. It runs concurrently with each school year. We have a very dedicated team that love to influence the children in our community for Jesus Christ. Each meeting holds many surprises. The "AWANA store" and Grand Prix are highlights of the year, as well as various special nights. We count it a privilege to be one of the few churches in our area that are running this very beneficial program. God has used the AWANA program around the world to lead countless children to Christ. Cedar Grove is blessed to be a part of it.

Ministry is the lifeblood of any church. In order to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), Cedar Grove Baptist Church endeavors to serve Newton and the surrounding communities in a number of ways. God has given our people some marvelous gifts which they use to help others as good stewards (I Peter 4:10). Our Sunday and Wednesday services are just a small portion of what Cedar Grove is all about. Below is a list of our regular ministries. We invite you to come serve with us, as we strive to reach our area for the Master!

BIBLE HANDOUT MINISTRY

In our Bible handout ministry, members from Cedar Grove will go to a different city, set up the "Free Bibles" sign and spend several hours passing out God's Word. Along with a Bible, each person receives a clear presentation of the Gospel. God has greatly blessed this ministry. In a time when our world needs it the most, our goal is to get God's Word into as many hands as we possibly can!
Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” We have seen dozens come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through this ministry.

GROW VISITATION

The first Thursday of every month the church comes together to go door-to-door soulwinning and to make hospital visits. Those that are not able to go out remain at the church and write cards of encouragement that will be mailed out. From the youngest to the oldest, there is something for everyone to do in this ministry. Come with us as we obey Gods command to “GO."
